For One Moment - Little Snippets of my Life and Art...

Just a bit of fun with my stamps, inks and stencils today...   I used Cat Walk   stencil from the March release at  A Colorful Life Designs  and this cute singing  cat from KaztelKraft that I purchased from TopFlight Stamps called Fernand - Les gros chats ! I used My Favorite Things Extreme Black Hybrid ink to stamp Fernand and Copics for coloring.  I used Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink to stencil the background and wrote the sentiment with my Cricut Maker and Cricut fine line black marker. I hand drew the notes, as I couldn't find any tiny note stamps in my stash and then used black bling from EyeLet Outlet to pop up the notes and some fun colorful flower stickers from The Paper Studio.   Although the photo doesn't really show it, the cat is stamped on the background and then stamped separately on another piece of white cardstock and fussy cut and layered on the background with foam tape.  Found some blue cardstock to ...

I got this awesome Paws stencil from the March release at  A Colorful Life Designs and knew I had the perfect stamp to go with it.   I just love this peaking cat from kaztelkraft called Ignace Les gros chats ! So I gathered my supplies and started to play... Paws stencil, Fossilized Amber Distress Ink and the cute peeking cat stamp.   I started out with Cougar Opaque Cover 80# Card from Marcos Paper and blended the distress ink on my cardstock using a makeup brush that I got from Amazon.  These brushes make blending so easy!   I put more color in the center of my card and blended out lighter around the edges.   After stamping Ignace the cat on a separate piece of the same cardstock, I grabbed a brush and used the same Fossilized Amber Distress Ink to watercolor the cat and wall.  I used Brushed Corduroy and Antique Linen Distress inks to add a bit of brown to Ignace the cat.   ...

Lifting Ink Through a Stencil Spent some more time playing with alcohol inks with no particular design in mind, so I had quite a stack of backgrounds and I figured I should at least put them to good use.  Although they are fun to look at just as they are!   The first piece I used was mostly greens and blues with a bit of gold foiling.   I used the Concentric Circles stencil by A Colorful Life Designs  and Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Blending Solution to lift the color from the card.   I got a little heavy handed when putting the Blending Solution on my Tim Holtz Mini Application Tool.  OOPS!  After lifting the stencil I saw that it ran under the stencil a good bit but I kind of liked the effect so I just went with it.  I used a paper towel to dab and polish off the extra Blending Solution. ...a Little Mind Yoga Needed some "me" time today so I decided to do a little playing with my alcohol inks.  The brand I used today are the Brea Reece alcohol inks by Memento.  I used Lavender, Mustard, Olive Green and Ocean Green (not pictured) on Yupo paper. I also used Pinata Brass and 91% alcohol along with USArtQuest Duo adhesive and Heidi Swapp foil in champagne. I started out playing with the inks with no real plan in place other than experimenting with just the Brea Reese inks and alcohol.  I didn't use any blending solution or extender today.  I just added dots of color and alcohol and blew them around with my airbrush...pushing the color out and in until I was pleased.  I put a good sized drop of the Ocean Green ink (which is really quite blue) and then contained it by putting a medicine bottle cap over it to keep it within a circle while I played with the yellow and green around it and removed it when I was done and let it all dry ...

Stuck in the Sixties I've been very nostalgic lately and have been on a 60s kick with Sirius XM 60s of 6 playing in my truck and reliving my hippie wanna be days.  As I was going through my A Colorful Life Designs   stencils this past weekend, I thought this  Flowers Gone Wild  stencil would be perfect for some 60s themed cards. I had hoped to get better pictures, but it has been gloomy and overcast since the weekend and I haven't been able to get any decent light, so I decided to go with the shots I have.  I ran out of playtime this weekend or there would have been several more cards using this stencil.  It is SO fun to work with! Good morning my friends!   Just a bit more Gelli Plate and Stencil play this weekend.  Card using Interlocking Leaves 6x9 stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and Art Anthology Splashed Clear Coat to add sparkle over a Distress Ink Gelli print. A simple but elegant card for any occasion.  Gelli Print with Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks Taped Stencil down with painters tape so that glaze would apply smoothly.   The sparkle is gorgeous, even if it doesn't show up in the picture very well. The word hello was created on my Cricut Maker. I cut out 4 copies and layered them on top of each other to give it some dimension.  Once layered, I colored the word with Wink of Stella Clear, to give it a little shimmer.  I attached the word with foam tape to the layered card and it's ready to go!

Life has been hectic the last year or so, and I have missed my blog and my creative community.  I hope to get back to blogging and sharing my creations on a more regular basis.  I had planned to clean and organize my desk, but just couldn't resist a bit of play with my stencils from  A Colorful Life Designs  and the Tim Holtz Distress ink pads, rub-ons and Chit Chat stickers that were laying on my desk while I sorted and put things away.   I started with a gelli print from a stack that I had in a basket on my desk.  I just chose complementing colors of Distress Inks and used what was within my reach on my desk.  Nothing special...just a little bit of play time.   It felt good to just play and make a mess, since I knew I was going to be cleaning it all up in just a bit anyway. I'm trying to start going through the piles of stuff in my corner (half) of the living room and throw away, organize, pack and put away...
