For One Moment - Little Snippets of my Life and Art...

I was inspired by CeeCee 's latest post to play with watercolor crayons.  I don't have any caran d'ache  watercolor crayons, so I used my Staedtler watercolor crayons. I was enjoying the process so much that I got a little carried away with the watercolor, but Hey I like it!! I really should learn to leave more white space though.   I do have to say that my carpal tunnel gave me a fit drawing all those little lines, but I pushed on through it and I have big fat flowers.   I did use  a golden Twinkling H2O's to add the metallic highlights.  You can't see it very well in the picture, but I can see it on my page and it gives just the right amount of glimmer. I'm not too keen on my lettering.  I should have just left like it was when I first wrote it and not tried to darken it.  Oh well, next time. I needed to make a birthday card for a co-worker and I knew I wanted to make something with watercolor flowers, so I dug out Twinkling H2Os to play.   With this many H2Os to choose from I didn't know where to start...  ...so I pulled out a butterfly embellishment and used it to pick the color scheme. I've had these for many years as you can tell by the original labels. Yummy, yummy colors!!! I put them in a tray and spritzed them several times with water to soften them up. Working on a heavy watercolor paper, I started laying out the line work and flowers. I started out with a pale gold background, but it was just a bit too pale for my taste so I mixed some colors and added some shading. Once I had all the flowers and vines in place, I started doodling.   Some swirls and dots to fill in the spaces. March When Tim posted his March tag for the 12 Tags of  2013  I knew I was going to have to do some major improvising because although I have a lot of Tim Holtz products in my stash, the only things I had this time was the Foliage and Memo Pins.   It took me a few days to wrap my head around it... but in the end I'm really happy with how my tag turned out  and it was nice to have some creative time at my art desk. Anna I didn't have the Fringe Die so I  cut my grass by hand.  I looked at the picture of the die and sized my grass to match  Tim's.  I had Green Co-ordinations but not the Kraft one...so my grass is green on both sides of the fence.  I sanded the paper first and then gave it a good dose of Walnut Stain Distress Ink before cutting.  Then after I put it on my tag, I gave it a little hint of Picked Raspberry. ...

Hope Blooms Mixed Media Mondays with Tracy Weinzapfel Studios Acrylic on Gesso Art Journal page. I used paper cut flowers from an old song book, rub-ons and sticker letters along with a tiny splatter stamp. There are little white affirmations scattered across the page that you have to look close to find.  I used black half pearls for the flower centers. Lots of dabbing with a baby wipe and spritzing with the water bottle and drying with the heat gun. Once I finished I sealed it all over with a light coat of PPA matte. The picture doesn't do it justice because as usual it is 11 pm and I am taking pictures under those home fluorescent lights that make everything look funky.
