Twinkling H2Os

I needed to make a birthday card for a co-worker and I knew I wanted to make something with watercolor flowers, so I dug out Twinkling H2Os to play.

With this many H2Os to choose from I didn't know where to start...

...so I pulled out a butterfly embellishment and used it to pick the color scheme.
I've had these for many years as you can tell by the original labels.

Yummy, yummy colors!!!

I put them in a tray and spritzed them several times with water to soften them up.
Working on a heavy watercolor paper, I started laying out the line work and flowers.

I started out with a pale gold background, but it was just a bit too pale for my taste so I mixed some colors and added some shading.

Once I had all the flowers and vines in place, I started doodling.
Some swirls and dots to fill in the spaces.
You can't really see them in the picture, but I also have swirls in white scattered throughout.

...and the finished layered card.
