<span style="background-color: #f3fdfe; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;">I hand drew the notes, as I couldn't find any tiny note stamps in my stash and then used black bling from EyeLet Outlet to pop up the notes and some fun colorful flower stickers from The Paper Studio. </span></div>

<span style="background-color: #f3fdfe; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;">Found some blue cardstock to match in my stash and layered the sentiment and the background. Mounted the layered front to the card base and attached the sentiment to the card with foam tape. </span></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I got this awesome <a href="https://acolorfullifedesigns.com/paws/" target="_blank">Paws </a>stencil from the March release at <a href="https://acolorfullifedesigns.com/" target="_blank">A Colorful Life Designs</a> and knew I had the perfect stamp to go with it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just love this peaking cat from kaztelkraft called <a href="https://www.katzelkraft.fr/produit/tampon-les-gros-chats-09-tampon-scrapbooking/" target="_blank">Ignace Les gros chats</a>!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U90Eu_2uQ2Y/XlvuxBigIiI/AAAAAAAADRo/B9dHYZitHXgOq7rOcbazeO9bb7EQkI7HwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U90Eu_2uQ2Y/XlvuxBigIiI/AAAAAAAADRo/B9dHYZitHXgOq7rOcbazeO9bb7EQkI7HwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I gathered my supplies and started to play...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--r-qvaJpbL0/XlvuxawkplI/AAAAAAAADRk/5dCAvt9vNDgaI57A8oD28_Ffiw8iuOypwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--r-qvaJpbL0/XlvuxawkplI/AAAAAAAADRk/5dCAvt9vNDgaI57A8oD28_Ffiw8iuOypwCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard5.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Paws stencil, Fossilized Amber Distress Ink and the cute peeking cat stamp. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started out with <a href="https://www.marcopaper.com/products.php?product=Cougar-Opaque-Cover" target="_blank">Cougar Opaque Cover 80# Card </a>from Marcos Paper and blended the distress ink on my cardstock using a makeup brush that I got from Amazon. <a href="https://smile.amazon.com/Brushes-Professional-Toothbrush-Foundation-Concealer/dp/B074Z1998W/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=start+makers+makeup+brushes&qid=1583088431&s=beauty&sr=1-2" target="_blank">These</a> brushes make blending so easy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I put more color in the center of my card and blended out lighter around the edges. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nCkDGEBzvq0/XlwBOVX1MdI/AAAAAAAADSE/dn-tpqmwreA8fBTez80VraKji0cAELpVACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="280" data-original-width="373" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nCkDGEBzvq0/XlwBOVX1MdI/AAAAAAAADSE/dn-tpqmwreA8fBTez80VraKji0cAELpVACLcBGAsYHQ/s400/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard9.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9Yl9Im0tp14/XlwBOc5TqYI/AAAAAAAADSI/DIyS-g9jwMA925IhZUlo1uwQI-WV4Wb5ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="280" data-original-width="373" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9Yl9Im0tp14/XlwBOc5TqYI/AAAAAAAADSI/DIyS-g9jwMA925IhZUlo1uwQI-WV4Wb5ACLcBGAsYHQ/s400/Cat%2Bpaw%2BStencil%2BCard8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After stamping Ignace the cat on a separate piece of the same cardstock, I grabbed a brush and used the same Fossilized Amber Distress Ink to watercolor the cat and wall. I used Brushed Corduroy and Antique Linen Distress inks to add a bit of brown to Ignace the cat. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I fussy cut down the edge of the wall and the cat so that I could pop it up with foam tape, but before mounting it to the background I stamped the cat on the background where I wanted to mount the watercolored layer. <i> (forgot to take a picture of this step)</i><br />
<br />
I didn't color that image of the cat, as I only needed it to show the little hairs sticking out from his body that couldn't be fussy cut. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After mounting the cat layer, I dug through my stash of cardstock and found the perfect color to match the Fossilized Amber Distress Ink.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
...as my cardstock stash has been built over many years, I have no idea of the brand or color name.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I layered my stamped and stenciled layer to a slightly larger layer of the orange/yellow cardstock and mounted them to a Pre-Folded Plain Card base of 80# Cougar Opaque Cover also from Marcos Paper.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I thought Ignace looked a bit perturbed...so I dug through my Tim Holtz chat stickers and found this one in the Snarky set. I mounted it to a strip of the orange/yellow cardstock and then used foam tape to mount it to the card.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Perfect!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some days I feel the same, and I'm sure a lot of you can relate!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15484790262385862070noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21631494.post-87356248999439296692019-09-04T21:10:00.001-04:002019-09-04T21:50:11.727-04:00Coffee Time!<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was wanting to make a coffee themed card yesterday...so I started thumbing through my stencils to see what I had that would work for the background. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I found this stencil by A <a href="http://acolorfullifedesigns.com/" target="_blank">Colorful Life Designs</a> that filled the bill. Although this one is called <a href="https://acolorfullifedesigns.com/pebbles/" target="_blank">Pebbles</a>, I saw little coffee beans!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I used several colors of Distress Ink on white card stock, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IDRz-YRMHZI/XXBcbBMhi8I/AAAAAAAADPQ/eugfBYV_xNsgx_YbWoJPJDcnnJcpoIqPgCLcBGAs/s1600/Coffee%2Bcard-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="491" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IDRz-YRMHZI/XXBcbBMhi8I/AAAAAAAADPQ/eugfBYV_xNsgx_YbWoJPJDcnnJcpoIqPgCLcBGAs/s640/Coffee%2Bcard-1.jpg" width="489" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next I used Art Glitter Glue to layer the panel to a darker brown piece of cardstock and then to a medium A2 card. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fc92MCQKxdw/XXBcbZrh2SI/AAAAAAAADPU/pPRiCtaXX2QXi7aAHrykEjw00WbuwBoyACLcBGAs/s1600/Coffee%2Bcard-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fc92MCQKxdw/XXBcbZrh2SI/AAAAAAAADPU/pPRiCtaXX2QXi7aAHrykEjw00WbuwBoyACLcBGAs/s640/Coffee%2Bcard-3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used my Cricut Maker to cut the center panels out of white and dark brown. Using my Distress Inks I grunged the edges of the background and aged the white top panel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used an older stamp set by TPC Studio called Coffee Cafe, and stamped the coffee mug and coffee beans, a few pieces of bling and a little pencil coloring on the coffee cup and it is ready to go to a coffee loving friend. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Use a close knit tapping motion to lay in the sky. Continue to tap and lay in the color, going over areas you've already done until you achieve the look you like whether it be large fluffy cells or small cells. Sorry I wasn't able to keep it totally in the frame, but I was trying to hold the phone in one hand and film while I used the other hand for blending. I think I need more practice!! LOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The longer you tap and blend the more the alcohol and blending fluid will evaporate and the smaller the cells will be. You can see the smaller cells in the green in the 3rd picture below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VMBEDzUYhY4/XSaHJZ6DtOI/AAAAAAAADMM/c4WnBDbYD9kNseRr_azuJqzPaUTHuh5HwCLcBGAs/s1600/66452823_2415141195397141_8505537651409944576_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VMBEDzUYhY4/XSaHJZ6DtOI/AAAAAAAADMM/c4WnBDbYD9kNseRr_azuJqzPaUTHuh5HwCLcBGAs/s400/66452823_2415141195397141_8505537651409944576_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The sky should look similar to the picture above.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qr-C7hEG5xA/XSaHI5X6ChI/AAAAAAAADMI/IvLUJmcowuQxsA04KTt8vgba6Ocux70zQCLcBGAs/s1600/66367586_463746481136485_4078698044625780736_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qr-C7hEG5xA/XSaHI5X6ChI/AAAAAAAADMI/IvLUJmcowuQxsA04KTt8vgba6Ocux70zQCLcBGAs/s400/66367586_463746481136485_4078698044625780736_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After completing the sky add the lighter of the greens (Sublime) and repeat the process for the grassy area, this time tapping until you get smaller cells. You may need to add a drop or two more of color on your felt if it gets too dry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You don't need to add any additional blending solution or you will make the piece too wet and you will have to blend a lot longer until it begins to evaporate and dry again.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NpHv23dcZ5k/XSaHJnJAKWI/AAAAAAAADMQ/_IWg_pn6vegWQCbzqSMZBfUJVIJEPNbYgCLcBGAs/s1600/66408595_668566720280932_5044171259286388736_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="352" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NpHv23dcZ5k/XSaHJnJAKWI/AAAAAAAADMQ/_IWg_pn6vegWQCbzqSMZBfUJVIJEPNbYgCLcBGAs/s640/66408595_668566720280932_5044171259286388736_n.jpg" width="352" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can see the difference in cells in the picture above. The green has been worked longer and the inks have settled into small cells.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ei3EzTeKQL8/XSaHIQh2OXI/AAAAAAAADMA/5aJed4uHGAYlISmH8ULiXG13bsyXvFM7gCLcBGAs/s1600/66299931_498183160942512_1196237886169546752_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ei3EzTeKQL8/XSaHIQh2OXI/AAAAAAAADMA/5aJed4uHGAYlISmH8ULiXG13bsyXvFM7gCLcBGAs/s400/66299931_498183160942512_1196237886169546752_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now you can add a few drops of the darker green (Envy) and add some darker details into the bottom grass section and up along the sides and top to create a trellis like frame. At this point I usually hold the blending tool at an angle to I have more control of where I am laying down the color. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Add drops of ink to your felt one or two at a time so that it is just moist enough to add color but not dilute the work you have already completed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mcxEM-vtCVA/XSaHJMtb4iI/AAAAAAAADMg/SA03_KwjoQkWsvR_xGa1L9UT4AGr9TaGQCLcBGAs/s1600/66338431_2347602115462009_4515391275398070272_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mcxEM-vtCVA/XSaHJMtb4iI/AAAAAAAADMg/SA03_KwjoQkWsvR_xGa1L9UT4AGr9TaGQCLcBGAs/s400/66338431_2347602115462009_4515391275398070272_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can go back and add some more of the Sublime green to blend the greens and give depth if it needs it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CrGaSiVngj0/XSaHLd4AnfI/AAAAAAAADMU/mWKW3iAZc8kRLa_azxtopJt9w8776drvACLcBGAs/s1600/66459525_382545929066741_5846526628271751168_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CrGaSiVngj0/XSaHLd4AnfI/AAAAAAAADMU/mWKW3iAZc8kRLa_azxtopJt9w8776drvACLcBGAs/s400/66459525_382545929066741_5846526628271751168_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next add a drop or two of color (orange, pink, red, etc) just at the edge of the felt pad and pounce at an angle to drop in some flowers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bSerZ_Y-_j4/XSag6iaiDYI/AAAAAAAADOY/JuomtS21ZGM5hrYOYIZIQ-wplDNCyfBtgCEwYBhgL/s1600/video-1562812540.mp4" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="854" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bSerZ_Y-_j4/XSag6iaiDYI/AAAAAAAADOY/JuomtS21ZGM5hrYOYIZIQ-wplDNCyfBtgCEwYBhgL/s640/video-1562812540.mp4" width="358" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Continuing to use the same felt pad and Alcohol Pearls only. This is important because if you add additional blending fluid it will re-wet the ink you have already put down and cause it to bloom and spread. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I like to add additional colors for flowers and depth, adding just a drop or two along the edge of the blending felt. Once I have laid down the color by holding the blending tool at an angle, I then pounce the tool flat and blend in some more of the green and blue left in the pad to push the bright colors to the back just a bit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I always like to finish off with a touch of the color Smolder to finish off the bottom and a tiny bit along the edges, etc. as it adds depth. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9lmdVI7zAro/XSaHOuX3OqI/AAAAAAAADMw/3J-juVcq7W8vr9pbjKbbq-boGleccfaGgCLcBGAs/s1600/66666281_2479043605449974_6023345544175288320_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9lmdVI7zAro/XSaHOuX3OqI/AAAAAAAADMw/3J-juVcq7W8vr9pbjKbbq-boGleccfaGgCLcBGAs/s400/66666281_2479043605449974_6023345544175288320_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After you have finished, you can add a die cut or stamped sentiment to the open sky area.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W-jkSqnKucM/XSaHNR6mhTI/AAAAAAAADNU/dYcOaF9OaG4WNUmIBDDfIlO7_I54hUxDACEwYBhgL/s1600/66634585_403134120299547_5013285144438505472_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W-jkSqnKucM/XSaHNR6mhTI/AAAAAAAADNU/dYcOaF9OaG4WNUmIBDDfIlO7_I54hUxDACEwYBhgL/s640/66634585_403134120299547_5013285144438505472_n.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This technique can be used in many ways...whether it be a little scene like the one above or just a blended background of several colors.</div>

<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Lifting Ink Through a Stencil</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Spent some more time playing with alcohol inks with no particular design in mind, so I had quite a stack of backgrounds and I figured I should at least put them to good use. Although they are fun to look at just as they are! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first piece I used was mostly greens and blues with a bit of gold foiling. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I got a little heavy handed when putting the Blending Solution on my Tim Holtz Mini Application Tool. OOPS! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After lifting the stencil I saw that it ran under the stencil a good bit but I kind of liked the effect so I just went with it. I used a paper towel to dab and polish off the extra Blending Solution.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5YWcPQGeNqk/XOvt1SPGzEI/AAAAAAAADKs/IqT4cUHhfYE7MLsi5EcOYFSvbCVaTs64ACLcBGAs/s1600/Capture4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5YWcPQGeNqk/XOvt1SPGzEI/AAAAAAAADKs/IqT4cUHhfYE7MLsi5EcOYFSvbCVaTs64ACLcBGAs/s400/Capture4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I like how the gold foiling highlighted the concentric rings of color between the circles. I found a crow with crown image in Cricut Design Space and cut it out of a very dark blue cardstock and used foam tape to mount it to my background and making sure to place the center circles of the background to look like a sun shining behind its back. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It still needed a bit more pop, so I used gold Nuvo Drops to add little accents to the background and to the crow with gold for his eye and for the tips of its crown. I mounted it on a dark blue card base from the same paper as the crow and called it done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love how this card turned out!!</div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lost in the 60s Again!</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the next card, I decided to jump back into the 60s again. I started with a piece of Yupo paper where I had mopped up leftover orange alcohol ink off my Glass Media Mat. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had been having fun playing with lots of ink and my mat had lots of orange inked dried on it where it had dripped off the edges of the Yupo paper as I played. I dribbled alcohol into the dried ink and then smooshed a piece of Yupo paper down onto the puddle to pick up all the orange ink...and a tad of brown and whatever was left on my mat and set it aside to dry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3JHcag3HkLQ/XOvrv8uPWVI/AAAAAAAADKY/vagw6DMPItcsiuW5gNMESHFDdG-WCj7rgCLcBGAs/s1600/-6x6GroovyFlowerMaskColor__49612.1554082814.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="439" data-original-width="439" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3JHcag3HkLQ/XOvrv8uPWVI/AAAAAAAADKY/vagw6DMPItcsiuW5gNMESHFDdG-WCj7rgCLcBGAs/s200/-6x6GroovyFlowerMaskColor__49612.1554082814.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then used the <a href="http://acolorfullifedesigns.com/groovy-flower-mask/" target="_blank">Groovy Flower Mask</a> at <a href="http://acolorfullifedesigns.com/" target="_blank">A Colorful Life Designs</a> and placed it over the background and followed the same technique as the card above. This is what it looked like after I removed the mask. </div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4atG4SVn00E/XOvt18Lr3BI/AAAAAAAADK4/cnl1GY_fPIEoNyr9BqxBoV6KsqIzfOcDQCLcBGAs/s1600/Capture8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4atG4SVn00E/XOvt18Lr3BI/AAAAAAAADK4/cnl1GY_fPIEoNyr9BqxBoV6KsqIzfOcDQCLcBGAs/s320/Capture8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I looked through Cricut Design Space and found some record images and great 60s shapes and music notes, etc., next thing you know I was reliving the 60s again! I mounted the images with Art Glitter Glue as well as some little groovy black flowers and mounted to a black mat and then a white card base.<br />
<br />
It's so Groovy!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hope you've enjoyed peaking in on my creative process. There will be more coming up because I still have a big stack of alcohol ink backgrounds.<br />

<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...a Little Mind Yoga</h3>
<div>
Needed some "me" time today so I decided to do a little playing with my alcohol inks. The brand I used today are the Brea Reece alcohol inks by Memento. I used Lavender, Mustard, Olive Green and Ocean Green (not pictured) on Yupo paper.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also used Pinata Brass and 91% alcohol along with <a href="https://www.usartquest.com/product-category/art-craft-materials/adhesives-art-craft-materials/" target="_blank">USArtQuest Duo</a> adhesive and Heidi Swapp foil in champagne.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ksbT3Kg3wL4/XOr3aLrBLZI/AAAAAAAADJI/9JZ81k_pywE_LOeTQ790Coo6O3jJrBpHQCLcBGAs/s1600/Capture.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="753" data-original-width="960" height="313" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ksbT3Kg3wL4/XOr3aLrBLZI/AAAAAAAADJI/9JZ81k_pywE_LOeTQ790Coo6O3jJrBpHQCLcBGAs/s400/Capture.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started out playing with the inks with no real plan in place other than experimenting with just the Brea Reese inks and alcohol. I didn't use any blending solution or extender today. I just added dots of color and alcohol and blew them around with my airbrush...pushing the color out and in until I was pleased. I put a good sized drop of the Ocean Green ink (which is really quite blue) and then contained it by putting a medicine bottle cap over it to keep it within a circle while I played with the yellow and green around it and removed it when I was done and let it all dry</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once the alcohol ink was almost dry and had a few sticky spots I put some Heidi Swapp foil in champagne over the whole piece and then pulled it off, leaving a bit of foil throughout the sticky spots. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a tiny q-tip from the model section at hobby lobby to add some <a href="https://www.usartquest.com/product-category/art-craft-materials/adhesives-art-craft-materials/" target="_blank">USArtQuest Duo</a> adhesive dots and trails and let them dry before putting the foil piece back down. This gave the dots a bit of dimension. I followed up with tiny dots of Pinata brass using the other end of the q-tip. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tI3XMxIMOfc/XOr3aDjU_AI/AAAAAAAADJQ/HOP63JSrZWAIEjwi_H0kYaME9TGjhAFcACLcBGAs/s1600/Capture2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="839" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tI3XMxIMOfc/XOr3aDjU_AI/AAAAAAAADJQ/HOP63JSrZWAIEjwi_H0kYaME9TGjhAFcACLcBGAs/s640/Capture2.jpg" width="556" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z-yTiWZCEe8/XOsk6FD3VmI/AAAAAAAADJk/6hz5iauOvvYmCTbkUs17UPeT22qysQDIQCLcBGAs/s1600/Yoga%2BTree.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="439" data-original-width="439" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z-yTiWZCEe8/XOsk6FD3VmI/AAAAAAAADJk/6hz5iauOvvYmCTbkUs17UPeT22qysQDIQCLcBGAs/s320/Yoga%2BTree.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I used Hobby Lobby's Master's Touch black acrylic with <a href="http://acolorfullifedesigns.com/yoga-tree/" target="_blank">A Colorful Life Designs Yoga Tree</a> stencil and used Stencil Ease repositionable Spray Adhesive on the back of the stencil to make it tacky so it would stay in place and not let paint under the stencil. I pounced the paint on with a Tim Holtz ink blender and foam.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once I had the Yoga Tree stenciled on I went in and added a few more dots of texture with Pinata Brass.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uPJpfdDPSgs/XOr3aG8JD-I/AAAAAAAADJM/7YQLCkIsWSkhDgkr5v6ZWovc_bYH4dgyQCLcBGAs/s1600/Capture3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uPJpfdDPSgs/XOr3aG8JD-I/AAAAAAAADJM/7YQLCkIsWSkhDgkr5v6ZWovc_bYH4dgyQCLcBGAs/s640/Capture3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Loving this piece so much! I'm going to have to find a mat and a frame as it is much too big to make into a card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hope you are getting a chance to get inky this weekend!</div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Stuck in the Sixties</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I've been very nostalgic lately and have been on a 60s kick with Sirius XM 60s of 6 playing in my truck and reliving my hippie wanna be days. As I was going through my <a href="http://acolorfullifedesigns.com/" target="_blank">A Colorful Life Designs </a> stencils this past weekend, I thought this <a href="http://acolorfullifedesigns.com/flowers-gone-wild/" target="_blank">Flowers Gone Wild</a> stencil would be perfect for some 60s themed cards.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I had hoped to get better pictures, but it has been gloomy and overcast since the weekend and I haven't been able to get any decent light, so I decided to go with the shots I have. I ran out of playtime this weekend or there would have been several more cards using this stencil. It is SO fun to work with!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">All cards were done on Yupo medium weight that I picked up at my local art store. It can also be found in the art section at Hobby Lobby and also as part of the Tim Holtz line of products. I love working on Yupo! It works great for alcohol inks, and embossing pastes and gels go on so smooth. It also die cuts beautifully and cuts like a dream with my Cricut. You can also use it with embossing folders. (I'll do a post on that soon)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For the colorful card on the right I used Ranger Texture Paste. This paste goes on smooth and creamy. It looks white when applying but dries to a clear and glossy type finish. (Sorry, I forgot to get a picture of that stage)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I allowed the stenciled background to dry a couple of hours and then I used several pink, orange and green alcohol inks...some Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and Alcohol Pearls, and a pink from Brea Reese, added some 91% isopropyl alcohol and blew the inks all around with my airbrush. You can also use Tim Holtz Blending Fluid, but I didn't wants the rings you get when using the blender fluid and I didn't want to use a blender tool.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You can use a straw, canned air, a bulb type brush marker sprayer or airbrush to move the ink around...or if you don't have access to any of those, you can just tilt your card back and forth to make the inks run together and cover the card. </span><br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I used my Cricut to cut the <b>feelin' GROOVY</b> sentiment out of a coordinating green cardstock. Cricut Design Space has a fun selection of 60s images and sayings. I found one I liked and sized it to fit the card and cut 3 copies which I</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> layered to give it more dimension. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Next I decided to try some of Hobby Lobby's Master's Touch Modeling Paste on the Yupo. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Mary Kay of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/AColorfulLifeDesigns/" target="_blank">A Colorful Life Designs</a> and I had been chatting about white on white cards and how great they looked, so I decided to do something out of the ordinary for a 60s card and make it all white. I used my Cricut again to cut out the words and elements, using Yupo for the peace sign and the flowers, and Neenah cardstock for the word PEACE. I layered it on a layer of Neenah white cardstock and then to a white card base. </span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">While creating the card above I had a little bit of modeling paste left on my palette knife so I grabbed another piece of Yupo and just smeared it across through the stencil before I cleaned it off. I knew that it was going to be messy and wouldn't give a full coverage so I grabbed some pearlescent acrylic ink in a rosy color and smooshed it with my finger through the stencil while the modeling paste was still wet, making for a very messy but fun background.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Once the background was dry I added Alcohol Inks, Pearl Inks and some Pinata Brass. <div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Life has been hectic the last year or so, and I have missed my blog and my creative community. </span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">I hope to get back to blogging and sharing my creations on a more regular basis. </span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">I had planned to clean and organize my desk, but just couldn't resist a bit of play with my stencils from <a href="http://acolorfullifedesigns.com/" target="_blank">A Colorful Life Designs</a> and the Tim Holtz Distress ink pads, rub-ons and Chit Chat stickers that were laying on my desk while I sorted and put things away. </span></div>
</div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: black; font-size: medium;">
</span>
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><span style="color: black;">I started with a gelli print from a stack that I had in a basket on my desk. I just chose complementing colors of Distress Inks and used what was within my reach on my desk. Nothing special...just a little bit of play time. </span>It felt good to just play and make a mess, since I knew I was going to be cleaning it all up in just a bit anyway.</span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">I'm trying to start going through the piles of stuff in my corner (half) of the living room and throw away, organize, pack and put away in preparation for my move out to my new "she shed" studio in the back yard. I know a have a few more months before it will be ready, but it will take me ages to get through all the piles and get it all organized and packed up.</span></div>
</div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: black; font-size: medium;">
</span>
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">In the meantime, I will still be playing in my inks and paints. </span></div>
</div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: black; font-size: medium;">
</span>
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">I'm not going to pack it ALL up!</span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. </span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">It's back to the day job for me tomorrow.</span></div>

Tiny Dots and Doodles...</h4>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I always carry around a little Fluid Watercolor Block with me when I take kids to appointments, and a few pens and my Peerless Watercolors. Usually don't get a lot done in the time I spend waiting, but over time it all adds up to a fun little doodle. I seem to be into tiny dots lately...</div>

Spent the afternoon sitting along the water at a local restaurant listening to my friends' band play.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I always take my watercolors as it is so fun and relaxing to sit and listen and paint while enjoying the music. Tried a bit of different palette for this one.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I joined the Facebook Group called Every Day in February and we are visiting a different country every day. </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
As always I am running behind, but I'm enjoying seeing all the wonderful drawings and learning so many facts about each of the countries we are visiting.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Time to plan my sketches for Days 3 and 4!</div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I got waylaid at the beginning of my tour when I was invited to join a scientific team in the deep ocean off Antartica to watch a brinicle form. It took a while for the conditions to be right but it was well worth the wait to see it being formed right before our eyes. "A brinicle (brine icicle, also known as ice stalactite) forms beneath sea ice when a flow of extremely cold, saline water is introduced to an area of ocean water, being the undersea equivalent of a hollow stalactite or icicle. When it touches the sea bottom, it spreads across the bottom freezing everything in its path."</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm on vacation in Panama City Beach with my friend <a href="http://inthehillsofnorthcarolina.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sandee</a> and we have been spending the week relaxing and painting. I've been wanting to paint a Whooping Crane for quite a while and I decided that this would be the perfect time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Whooping Cranes are endangered and many people </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
are working tirelessly to bring these beautiful birds back from the brink of extinction.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1cRjLQOuQPA/Vg6IO1pA_TI/AAAAAAAAC8M/PATGOuuSfzE/s1600/blogger-image--967464636.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1cRjLQOuQPA/Vg6IO1pA_TI/AAAAAAAAC8M/PATGOuuSfzE/s640/blogger-image--967464636.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you would like to learn more about Whooping Cranes, check out <a href="http://operationmigration.org/" target="_blank">Operation Migration</a>, which is just one of the organizations working to save these wonderful birds.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can also learn how you can help save these beautiful birds that are 5 feet tall once fully grown.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I volunteer and act as a moderator in the Operation Migration chat room and also to drive the camera at White River Marsh during training and it is one of my favorite things to do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The colts are being trained to migrate south, by following ultralights and you can follow along with them and watch them live on the <a href="http://operationmigration.org/cranecam.asp" target="_blank">Crane Cam.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1EUtJkxYP8U/Vg6G-qS9bYI/AAAAAAAAC7c/tHvBnDHU2o0/s1600/blogger-image--1904036511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1EUtJkxYP8U/Vg6G-qS9bYI/AAAAAAAAC7c/tHvBnDHU2o0/s640/blogger-image--1904036511.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't think to take step-out pictures of my sketch, masking or laying down the washes for the sky, distant trees and the marsh. I used Holbein and Daniel Smith watercolors for the initial washes and Bruynzeel colored pencils and watercolor pencils for the grasses in the marsh.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1KKLYxt8M28/Vg6IK9ztlnI/AAAAAAAAC70/Glxw-uPUWI8/s1600/blogger-image--2083141230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1KKLYxt8M28/Vg6IK9ztlnI/AAAAAAAAC70/Glxw-uPUWI8/s640/blogger-image--2083141230.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Clouds were added and initial shading on the crane's wings and tail were next.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ulsLrhbEFz0/Vg6IH6DmUGI/AAAAAAAAC7k/IhxjwGm0VBY/s1600/blogger-image--2049691436.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ulsLrhbEFz0/Vg6IH6DmUGI/AAAAAAAAC7k/IhxjwGm0VBY/s640/blogger-image--2049691436.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I started laying in the coloring on it's head and legs, building details a little at a time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-sXrkREqind4/Vg6IMXhPjsI/AAAAAAAAC78/0ulkTpmIYVA/s1600/blogger-image--1850127057.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; display: inline; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-sXrkREqind4/Vg6IMXhPjsI/AAAAAAAAC78/0ulkTpmIYVA/s640/blogger-image--1850127057.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
...more shading on the wings and laying in the color of the primaries.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xW5y-X73_hY/Vg_r0yqp3EI/AAAAAAAAC84/Mfx2PtdZKPs/s1600/blogger-image--2110712336.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xW5y-X73_hY/Vg_r0yqp3EI/AAAAAAAAC84/Mfx2PtdZKPs/s640/blogger-image--2110712336.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
...finishing of the details and adding the eye, and I'm calling it finished!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was so nice to have uninterrupted time to work and it took me about a day and a half with drying time, etc. to complete this 9 x 12 watercolor on Canson Montval 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Blueberry and Plum</h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I am so far behind on my ICAD prompts but I keep plugging along. </div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I had to think about this one a bit to decide if I wanted to to go with realistic blueberries, or just use the color reference.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Since I had just recently picked blueberries and have three nice big containers in my freezer, I decided to go with realistic style blueberries with a hint of a plum.</div>

Mango and Lime</h3>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some more watercolor fun! I used a combination of Kuretake Gansai Tambi pan watercolors and Neocolor IIs for this little mango card. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really like how this one came out.</div>
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-61pCj2xcttA/VaXJEbxPfYI/AAAAAAAAC3o/me3PqmaF2zw/s1600/Mango-Lime-11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-61pCj2xcttA/VaXJEbxPfYI/AAAAAAAAC3o/me3PqmaF2zw/s400/Mango-Lime-11.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the little sketch and first layer of colors using the pan watercolors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PTP5IG7gMwc/VaM7UgCLVWI/AAAAAAAAC2w/uF4zUzPEAfM/s1600/2015-07-12%2B20.52.05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PTP5IG7gMwc/VaM7UgCLVWI/AAAAAAAAC2w/uF4zUzPEAfM/s400/2015-07-12%2B20.52.05.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Added a bit more color with Neocolors and started shading the mango and its little leaf.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eLSJk2LTj8s/VaM8UA6oiiI/AAAAAAAAC3A/XdWPOUOi1w4/s1600/2015-07-12%2B23.57.56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eLSJk2LTj8s/VaM8UA6oiiI/AAAAAAAAC3A/XdWPOUOi1w4/s400/2015-07-12%2B23.57.56.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then a bit more layering and subtle shading and added the spattering of color to the mango and countertop. Then I titled it and signed it and called it done, before I could go back and overwork it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Eggplant and Ginger </h3>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I got my order of the full set of Neocolor IIs in this past week and thought I'd take some time to play with them and see how far I could push them .</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
No step-out shots this time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My carpel tunnel is acting up, so I ended up working on this one over several day as my hand would allow.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vUHCp9i4VaI/VaHm0_XDVbI/AAAAAAAAC2g/vrbBCxHDQBs/s1600/Eggplant-Ginger-10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="185" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vUHCp9i4VaI/VaHm0_XDVbI/AAAAAAAAC2g/vrbBCxHDQBs/s400/Eggplant-Ginger-10.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
I lightly drew the swirls directly on the watercolor paper in eggplant and ginger looking colors and then wet and smoothed them with a #8 round brush, and then from there I started to play.<br />
<br />
I used many methods of layering the colors besides the direct to paper method like I mentioned above. I used both a water brush and a #3 round brush for most of the work, alternating to use the one I felt would create the effect I was trying to achieve.<br />
<br />
One method was to take the crayon and color on my craft mat and use a wet brush to mix in a bit of water to create a wet wash. The more water you add the thinner and lighter the wash.<br />
<br />
I also used a wet brush to take color directly from the crayon, sometimes to add a mere hit of color and sometimes I picked up a lot of color to lay down a more intense layer of color.<br />
<br />
I did a lot of spattering using washes that I created on my craft mat and the #3 round brush. The small brush created wonderful subtle and tiny splatters. Just what I was going for to add in subtle layers of color. I would suggest that you don't use the water brush to create spatters as it generally likes to just fling plain water out of the brush rather than the color you've picked up on your brush.<br />
<br />
All outlining was completed with some vintage Rapidograph pens filled with black India Ink that I scored from a friend. I used the 2.0, 3.0 and .3 tips. They have been so fun to work with and I am still learning the best way to hold them and not set the carpel tunnel off in my hand. I think I am really going to like them. I have several more pens and tips and I've picked up some white ink and found some brown ink in my stash and am looking forward to playing some more.<br />
<br />
Now I'm off to figure out what to do for #11 Lime and Mango. I'm quite a bit behind but I keep marching on.<br />
...hmmm...what to do, what to do.<br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting and if your still here after all my rambling, feel free to leave me a comment below. I would love to hear from you!</div>
